25/04 – Day 1
OLBIA / NUORO / ORGOSOLO / CAGLIARI
Arrival in Olbia, and go toward Barbagia, the heart of the island, where the traditions are still deeply rooted. We will visit the Museum of Custom with a local guide and continue to Orgosolo. In that area, we will have outdoor lunch with the shepherds with typical Sardinian menu. In the afternoon, visit of the Murals of Orgosolo and departure toward Cagliari, hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight.
26/04 – Day 2
CAGLIARI / NORA
Full board in hotel. In the morning sightseeing with a local guide, the old part of town and the Archaeological Museum, which contains most of the finds from various periods, found in the island. In the afternoon, excursion to Pula and visit the ancient city of Nora, partially submerged with a local guide. Return in the evening at the hotel.
27/04 – Day 3
IGLESIAS / ANTAS / MINE OF MONTEPONI
Breakfast at hotel and leaving with a guide to Iglesias. After the visit to the city, we will continue to Antas, to visit the Punic Roman temple dedicated to Sardus Pater. We will have lunch in a restaurant in the area. In the afternoon, we will visit the Monteponis’ Mine, near Iglesias and return to our hotel in the evening, dinner and overnight.
28/04 – Day 4
ORISTANO / THARROS
Breakfast at hotel and departure with the guide, for a hiking tour to the town of Oristano. We will visit the homeland of Eleanor of Arborea, the first judge in Sardinia that issued the “Carta de Logu”, the first written law codes of the island. Our tour Continues to the Sinis Peninsula to visit a winery that produces the “Vernaccia” a typical wine of the area, with the possibility of tasting and purchasing. We will have lunch in a restaurant in Cabras. In the afternoon, we will visit the ancient archaeological site of Tharros, in the Sinis Peninsula and the Paleo- Christian church of Saint John in Sinis. We will return to the hotel in the evening, dinner and overnight.
29/04 – Day 5
S. ANTIOCO / CARLOFORTE
Breakfast at the hotel, and leaving with a guide, for the full day excursion, to the islands of S. Antioco and Saint Peter. Embarkation of the passengers from Calasetta to Carloforte, and walking tour of the town, named after King Charles Emmanuel of Savoy, which gave permission to the Ligurian refugees, fleeing from Tabarka in Tunisia, to found a new colony, on the island of San Peter over 200 years ago. We will have lunch in a restaurant and return to S. Antioco. We will visit S. Antioco that is rich of Punic vestiges, among which the famous Tophet (urns) dedicated to the god Bes. We will return to the hotel in the evening, dinner and overnight.
30/04 – Day 6
BARUMINI AND GIARA OF GESTURI
Breakfast at hotel, and departure to Barumini and have a visit of the site with local guide, the most impressive nuragic complex of the island, a world site heritage. Visit of Home – Zapata, an ancient manor house, where he found himself, in the foundation of the building during the renovation of the site, an ancient nuraghe, visible through the glass covers, that cover it. We will have Lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon excursion to the “Giara”, famous plateau, where the famous Sardinian horses and several other endemic species of flora and fauna, typical of the island are present and live freely. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
01/05 – Day 7
FESTIVAL OF SAINT EFISIO / OLBIA
Breakfast and lunch at the hotel. In the morning free time to attend the Feast of St. Efisio, a very important religious festival, that is featured for the customes and the music accompanying the procession of the statue of Saint Efisio, the patron of Cagliari and the island. Saint Efisio saved the city from a plague, that had decimated the Mediterranean. In the early afternoon, we will return to Olbia to leave the island. End of the tour.
