OLBIA / LUOGOSANTO
Arrival to Olbia, and departure to Luogosanto, to visit a thirteenth century Romanesque style Basilica, Signora di Luogosanto, (The Lady of Luogosanto), in which there is the Holy Door. Since 1700 many pilgrims, visit the Basilica of Signora di Luogosanto (Our Lady of Luogosanto). Then we will give a visit to the hermitage of San Trano. The Saints Nicola and Trano Anchorites lived in this hermitage. Hotel accommodation in the hotel, dinner and overnight.
CASTELSARDO / SACCARGIA / SASSARI
Breakfast at hotel and we will leave toward Castelsardo, the royal city, founded in 1200, by the Doria family of Genoa. In this city retains an old castle, now Museum of the plot. Visit to the Elephant rock, the ancient hypogean tomb. Overlooking the sea, there is the medieval fortress with the beautiful Church of Santa Maria (Saint Mary), in which starts the Easter Parade called “Lunissanti”. This parade was introduced by Benedictine Monks in the eleventh century ‘. We will have lunch in a restaurant, and in the afternoon drive to Tergu, to visit the beautiful Roman church of Ns. Signora of Tergu (Our Mrs. of Tergu) that used to be a part of an ancient Benedictine abbey. Continuing to Saccargia and visit the Church of SS. Trinity in polychromatic black and white stones. Finally we will arrive in Sassari, hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight.
SASSARI / BORUTTA / TORRALBA / BOSA / CAGLIARI
Breakfast at hotel and visit to the Cathedral of the city dedicated to St. Nicholas, rebuilt in the fifteenth century, in Gothic-Catalan. Then we will continue our trip to Borutta, to visit the church of St. Peters of Sorres, with the adjoining Benedictine monastery. A few miles away, we can visit the Nuragic Palace of St. Antine and we will go toward Bosa. We will have lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon, visit of Bosa, an old town recently named, the 2nd most beautiful village in Italy, and a visit to the church of San Pietro Extramuros (St. Peter Extramuros). In the evening we will arrive in Cagliari, hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight.
CAGLIARI / ORISTANO
Breakfast and lunch at the hotel. In the morning, sightseeing Cagliari, inhabited since ancient times, and visit to the Sanctuary of Bonaria protector of the island. In the afternoon departure to Oristano, visit to the city, Eleanor of Arboreas’ home, the Giudicessa known for having promulgated the “Charter of Logu” the first written code of laws of the island. Once arrived at the hotel, accommodation, dinner and overnight.
NUORO / MONTE ORTOBENE /OLBIA
Breakfast at hotel and departure to Barbagia, the wildest region of the island, where the traditions are still deeply rooted. Stop in Paulilatino to visit the beautiful sacred well of Santa Cristina (Saint Christy), one of the most beautiful wells in the island, in antiquity dedicated to the worship of water. We will continue to Nuoro, and visit the Museum of Custom, that shows the visitor an overview of the uses and customs of the island. Our journey will continue to Ortobene Mountain, where there is a famous statue of the Redeemer, built in 1901 overlooking the hinterland of Nuoro. We will have lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon, we will return to Olbia. End of the tour.
